Joe Rogan, a renowned stand-up comedian, podcast host, and UFC commentator, is known for his relentless pursuit of health and wellness. With a commitment to physical and mental well-being, Rogan has built a supplement stack that is designed to help him unlock his full potential.

In this article, we will delve into the world of Joe Rogan’s supplement stack, exploring the various supplements he incorporates into his daily routine and the benefits they offer.

Why does Joe Rogan take supplements?

As an advocate of physical fitness and overall well-being, he understands the importance of maintaining a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle. However, due to various factors such as a busy schedule and travel commitments, it is not always possible for him to consume the required amount of nutrients solely through food.

  • Supplements provide Joe Rogan with a convenient way to bridge any nutritional gaps in his diet. They contain a concentrated dose of essential vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial nutrients that can support his overall health and enhance his performance.
  • Furthermore, Joe Rogan is known for his engagement in intense physical activities. These strenuous workouts put a significant strain on his body, leading to increased nutrient requirements. Supplements can help him meet these increased demands and aid in muscle recovery, joint health, and overall performance enhancement.

Joe Rogan’s supplements for memory and cognitive function

Alpha brain

Alpha Brain is a nootropic supplement produced by Onnit. It is formulated with various ingredients that are believed to support cognitive function. The ingredients include Bacopa monnieri and Huperzia serrata, which studies suggest may have neuroprotective properties, and L-theanine which stimulates alpha brain waves and improves mental focus.

Rogan has been consistently using Alpha BRAIN before stand-up performances and UFC announcing since 2010 and he says he had a better recall of words.

Trubrain

TruBrain is a popular nootropic drink marketed to improve cognitive performance. It contains a blend of ingredients such as piracetam, oxiracetam, and theanine, which are effective in achieving cognitive benefits. The formula has been tested thoroughly and is safe and effective in achieving the desired results.

Joe claimed that the nootropic drink helps him get better focus, encourages him to contribute ideas, and helps keep energy levels steady, throughout the day.

Lion’s Mane

Lion’s Mane is a type of mushroom that has been traditionally used in Eastern medicine for its potential cognitive benefits. It contains compounds that may stimulate the growth of nerve cells and support brain health.

Although some small clinical trials suggest that Lion’s Mane may have neuroprotective and memory-enhancing effects, the current evidence is not enough to support its claimed benefits.

Joe Rogan’s supplements: Vitamins

Vitamin B complex

Vitamin B complex is a combination of several B vitamins, including B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, and B12. These vitamins play a crucial role in energy production, and brain function.

Multivitamins

Rogan has mentioned using a multivitamin product called Athletic Pure Pack.

Multivitamins are a combination of various vitamins and minerals. They are designed to fill any nutritional gaps in your diet and support overall health. While it is important to get vitamins and minerals from whole foods, a multivitamin can be a convenient way to supplement your intake, especially if you have dietary restrictions or struggle to meet your nutrient needs.

Vitamin D

In his talk show, Joe Rogan pointed to a possible link between low vitamin D levels, and increased severity of Covid-19. Rogan says he takes around 5000 IU of vitamin D daily. A growing body of evidence also showed that not having adequate vitamin D might put people at higher risk of getting severe COVID-19 infection. However, the evidence is not enough to recommend either for or against the use of vitamin D for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19.

Regardless, one undeniable fact is more people than you think are having insufficient vitamin D levels. The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in Europe, the USA, and the Middle East has been reported to range from 20 to 90%, highlighting the importance of getting adequate vitamin D.

Intravenous vitamin drips

Joe Rogan has mentioned using IV vitamin drips containing zinc, vitamin C, and glutathione. Zinc supports immune function and helps with wound healing, while vitamin C is a potent antioxidant and plays a role in collagen synthesis. Glutathione is an antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage and supports detoxification processes.

Joe said that IV drips work better but it is not true. IV drips give you water with salt, which you could get from a sports drink. The boost in hydration but not nutrients, is what makes people think they feel better after IV treatment.

Joe Rogan’s supplements for cardiovascular health

Omega-3 Fish oil

Omega-3 fatty acids, specifically eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), are known to have numerous benefits for cardiovascular health.

Omega-3 fish oil is derived from fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, and sardines. It is rich in EPA and DHA, which play a crucial role in reducing inflammation, improving blood vessel function, and lowering triglyceride levels. These benefits can contribute to a healthy heart and lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes.

Joe Rogan’s supplements for gut health

Probiotics

Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are beneficial for our digestive system. Probiotics work by colonizing the gut and promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria, which contributes to a balanced gut microbiome. The efficacy of probiotics in improving gut health has been undoubtedly proven in many clinical trials. Moreover, these living microorganisms have many other potential benefits like enhancing the immune system, promoting weight loss, and improving urogenital and mental health.

Joe Rogan’s supplements for sleep

Joe Rogan has mentioned several supplements that he believes can help improve sleep quality. These include magnesium, apigenin, and theanine.

Magnesium

Magnesium is known for its calming effects on the nervous system. It regulates brain activity by binding to the GABA receptor, which is responsible for slowing down nerve activity. It also helps to regulate a sleep-promoting hormone, called melatonin. Additionally, it helps relax the muscles and promotes a sense of calmness, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep throughout the night.

Several studies have shown this effect in older adults. However, it’s important to speak with your doctor before starting magnesium supplements for improved sleep, as research is still limited,

Apigenin

Apigenin is a flavonoid found in certain plants, such as chamomile. It has been shown to have sedative effects and can help promote sleep. Apigenin can be found in supplement form or consumed through chamomile tea.

Although apigenin has shown promise in animal studies, we still need human clinical trials to prove its therapeutic potential.

Theanine

Theanine is an amino acid primarily found in tea leaves, particularly green tea. It has been shown to have calming effects and can help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. Theanine can be taken as a supplement or consumed through drinking green tea.

Some studies also indicate that L-theanine can be a safe natural sleep aid by reducing stress and promoting a sense of calmness.

Joe Rogan’s supplements: Antioxidants

Quercetin

Quercetin is a flavonoid that is commonly found in fruits, vegetables, and grains. It is known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Quercetin acts as a powerful scavenger of free radicals, helping to neutralize them and reduce oxidative stress which is linked to various health issues and aging.

Glutathione

Glutathione is another powerful antioxidant. It aids the detoxification process in the liver, helps to neutralize harmful free radicals, and protects the cells from oxidative stress. Although it is naturally produced by the body, the body’s production may decline with age or certain health conditions, making supplementation beneficial for some individuals.

When considering antioxidants like Quercetin and Glutathione, it’s important to note that a balanced and varied diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, and whole foods should always be the primary source of antioxidants.

Joe Rogan’s supplements for performance and endurance

Protein bites

Protein bites are a convenient snack option that can help support muscle recovery and growth. They provide a good source of protein, which is essential for repairing and building muscle tissue.

Creatine

Creatine is a widely studied and popular supplement known for its muscle-boosting and performance-enhancing benefits. It helps increase ATP (adenosine triphosphate) levels in the muscles, providing energy for high-intensity activities and improving strength and power output. Research shows that it can indeed help build and maintain muscle, and may help improve exercise performance.

Shroom tech sport

Shroom Tech Sport is a supplement formulated with adaptogenic mushrooms, herbs, and nutrients. It is designed to enhance stamina, endurance, and overall athletic performance. The specific blend of ingredients in Shroom Tech Sport may help improve oxygen utilization, reduce fatigue, and support energy production. Joe says he takes Shroom Tech Sport as a pre-workout supplement, and it allows him to push harder in the gym.

Athletic greens

Athletic Greens is a comprehensive greens powder that contains a blend of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and probiotics. It aims to provide a wide range of nutrients and support overall health and well-being. Joe Rogan has mentioned using Athletic Greens as a convenient way to ensure he’s meeting his nutritional needs to enhance overall well-being and performance.

Joe Rogan’s supplements for joint health

Glucosamine Chondroitin & MSM

Engagement in strenuous mixed martial arts activity puts a lot of wear and tear on joints of Joe. So, he has been using glucosamine chondroitin and MSM since 2009 to support his joint health.

Glucosamine is a natural compound found in cartilage and is believed to support joint health by promoting the formation and repair of cartilage. Chondroitin is a component of cartilage that helps to attract water and provide cushioning to the joints. MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a sulfur compound that may help reduce inflammation and promote joint flexibility.

Combining these ingredients in a joint health supplement can provide comprehensive support for joint function.

Joe Rogan’s supplements for pain and anxiety

CBD oil

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a compound derived from the cannabis plant. CBD does not have psychoactive effects, meaning it does not make you feel high.

It works by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system, a complex network of receptors that regulate pain sensation, mood, and stress response. Studies suggested that it may also have anti-inflammatory properties, which contribute to pain relief. Moreover, some research indicates that CBD interacts with serotonin receptors in the brain, which are involved in regulating mood and anxiety.

Nonetheless, more research is needed to fully understand its effectiveness for pain and anxiety.

Joe Rogan’s supplements for hormone support

Testosterone

Rogan is open about his use of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), which he started at the age of 38, starting with creams followed by injections.

Testosterone is a hormone that plays a crucial role in male reproductive health, muscle growth, bone density, and overall well-being. As men age, their testosterone levels naturally decline, which can lead to various issues such as reduced muscle mass, decreased energy levels, and diminished libido. Rogan believes that TRT has helped him maintain his energy levels, physical performance, and overall health as he ages.

Closing thoughts: Incorporating supplements into one’s routine

While supplements can potentially enhance health and wellness, they should not be relied upon as a sole solution. To improve overall health, it is crucial to maintain a holistic approach, maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle changes in addition to opting for supplements.

Moreover, it is important to note that Joe Rogan is not a medical professional, and his supplementation choices are based on his research and personal experiences. As with any dietary decision, individuals must consult with healthcare professionals before incorporating supplements into their routines, as individual needs may vary.
